<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain at a high level the rotational frequency convergence and the rotational frequency control responsiveness even if the closing timing of an intake valve is considerably on the retard angle side. <P>SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes a variable valve timing mechanism B that can change the valve closing timing of an intake valve 7, and a throttle valve 17. In the case an actual engine rotational frequency and a target idle rotational frequency are deviated during idle operation of the internal combustion engine, the control device executes a rotational frequency control for correcting the intake valve closing timing and the throttle valve opening to eliminate the deviation. In the case the intake valve closing timing is on the retard angle side timing during execution of the rotational frequency control when carrying out the rotational frequency control, compared with the case of in the advanced angle side timing, the intake valve closing timing correction amount is made larger with respect to the same deviation amount of the actual engine rotational frequency and the target idle rotational frequency, and the throttle valve opening correction value is made smaller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
