<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power storage element which can prevent a power generation element from being short-circuited due to the impact of heat. <P>SOLUTION: A power generation element provided in a power storage element comprises: a positive electrode plate in which a positive electrode active material layer is formed on a conductive substrate: a negative electrode plate in which a negative electrode active material layer is formed on another conductive substrate and has a negative electrode active material arranged to face a positive electrode active material; and an electrically insulative, heat shrinkable separator which is arranged between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate. The separator is arranged so as to protrude from both sides of the positive electrode active material layer and the negative electrode active material layer. At least part of each of the portions protruding from both sides of the positive electrode active material layer and the negative electrode active material layer is provided with a thick portion which is thicker than the thickness of portions facing the positive electrode active material layer and the negative electrode active material layer. The thick portion projects toward at least one of the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate, and is present on both sides of at least one of the positive electrode active material layer and the negative electrode active material layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
