<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control apparatus, a method for controlling a compound machine and a program making the compound machine available when using the compound machine having a plurality of devices, even if the program is not optimized to the compound machine. <P>SOLUTION: A host computer 100 controls a compound machine 1. The host computer 100 executes, using an application program execution unit 121, each of a plurality of application programs corresponding to at least one of a plurality of devices, and using a port control process 140, receives data through a USB port 109 from the compound machine 1.
