<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sufficient SNR of a magnetic transfer signal even in magnetic transfer of a magnetic signal having short bit length. <P>SOLUTION: A master 10 having a fine rugged pattern P on the surface to be used when magnetically transferring a magnetic signal represented by the rugged pattern P to a perpendicular magnetic recording medium includes a master substrate 11 having a flat surface, a soft magnetic layer 12 formed on the surface of the master substrate 11 and having a fine rugged pattern Pa on the surface thereof, an underlayer 13 formed at least on the upper surface St of a protruding part of the rugged pattern Pa along the rugged pattern Pa of the soft magnetic layer 12, and a perpendicular magnetization film 14 formed at least in a region corresponding to the upper surface St of the protruding part on the under layer 13 along the rugged pattern Pa of the soft magnetic layer 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
