<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power conversion device and an overvoltage protection method that suppress an overvoltage due to dielectric breakdown of a transformer. <P>SOLUTION: An electric power conversion device of the present invention is an electric power conversion device (1) that induces a voltage across secondary winding of the transformer by intermittently supplying DC input to primary winding of a transformer (T), and rectifies the voltage induced across the secondary winding to generate desired DC output between a first output terminal and a second output terminal, and includes a detection section (10) which detects an overvoltage developed between a first current path between one end of the secondary winding of the transformer and the first output terminal and a second current path between the other end of the second winding and the second output terminal, a short-circuit part (20) which short-circuits the first current path and second current path to each other when the detection part detects the overvoltage, and a breaking part (30) which breaks supply of the DC input to the primary winding of the transformer when the detection part detects the overvoltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
