PURPOSE: A display device and a driving method thereof are provided to maintain the responding speed of the display device by supplying common voltage in an AC or DC form through analyzing whether a black image is a homeotropic image or a focal conic image. CONSTITUTION: A pixel displaying part(110) comprises multiple pixels. The multiple pixels are defined with the intersection of multiple data lines and multiple gate lines. Each pixel comprises a cholesteric liquid crystal capacitor. A common voltage supplying part(140) supplies common voltage to the cholesteric liquid crystal capacitor. The common voltage supplying part supplies a first common voltage of an AC form formed with a polarity opposite to image data supplied to a pixel when implementing the homeotropic image of a black image.
