The modular tank comprises a pair of sections presenting ends having openings (106a, 106b) delimited by the ends of edges (302a, 302b) that is closed and directed towards an outside of the sections and towards a longitudinal axis (10) of the tank, where the ends of the edges present interior faces (310a, 310b), and a hoop (104) comprising a split hoop presenting a concave profile whose concavity is directed towards an outside of the split hoop and a circumference adjustment unit designed to pass the split hoop from a retracted position to an expanded position. The modular tank comprises a pair of sections presenting ends having openings (106a, 106b) delimited by the ends of edges (302a, 302b) that is closed and directed towards an outside of the sections and towards a longitudinal axis (10) of the tank, where the ends of the edges present interior faces (310a, 310b), and a hoop (104) comprising a split hoop presenting a concave profile whose concavity is directed towards an outside of the split hoop and a circumference adjustment unit designed to pass the split hoop from a retracted position, in which the concave profile is freely placed with respect to the interior faces of the edges of the sections, to an expanded position into which the ends of the edges of the sections are introduced into the concave profile, where an interior of the concave profile is against the interior faces of the edges of the sections, and one of the sections presents an access opening providing an access to operate the circumference adjustment unit. The circumference adjustment unit is reversible so as to pass the split hoop from the expanded position to the retracted position, and includes two plates radially extending from the hoop split towards the interior of the split hoop, a threaded rod whose one end is welded with one of the plates and another end crosses the other plate and two nuts screwed on one of the ends of the rod so as to be placed on both sides of one of the plates. The ends of the edges present outside parts and brackets connected between the outside parts and the interior faces of the edge. Each bracket falls under an end plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The concave profile has V shape, where each branch of the concave profile has an angle of 45[deg] with a symmetry plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, and each interior face has an angle of 45[deg] with the symmetry plane. Each pair of sections comprises a sealing unit placed on a level of a junction between the sections and designed to ensure the sealing between the sections. The sealing unit consists of a fixing cord (306) deposited on a circumference external to the junction between the sections and a joint placed between the interior faces and the concave profile. An independent claim is included for a method for assembling a modular tank.
