<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine excellent in tub washing. <P>SOLUTION: An outer tub 9 is provided with an outer layer cover 9a including a water passage member 50. The water passage member 50 is configured to supply tap water from a water supply unit. Also, in the water passage member 50, a lateral face side water spray opening 50b1 is formed for indirectly spraying water to an outer peripheral edge part of a balance ring 8c in a washing and dewatering tub 8, and also a bottom surface side water spray opening 50a1 is formed for spraying water to an upper part of the lateral face of the balance ring 8c. The tap water sprayed to the outer peripheral edge part of the balance ring 8c is blown away to an inner peripheral surface 9s of the outer tub 9 by a centrifugal force when the washing and dewatering tub 8 is rotated.
