<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that, when character information is input with all of a Chinese character, a hiragana, a katakana, a symbol and an alphanumeric character set in the same mode, if a user tries to perform editing work such as deletion of character information during entering the character information in a character input area, a device cannot perform distinction between normal character information and a gesture operation. <P>SOLUTION: Character information input means 101 sequentially transmits input character information to gesture detecting means 103. The gesture detecting means 103 detects gesture on the basis of the character information received from the character information input means 101.
