The device has a turning drum downstream to a storage drum in a sheet running direction. The storage drum comprises a sheet hold system for a sheet front edge and a sheet hold system (1) i.e. stretching suction device, for a sheet rear edge. The turning drum transfers the sheets from the storage drum. The storage drum comprises a smoothing device arranged between the sheet hold system for the sheet front edge and the sheet hold system for the sheet rear edge. Suction nozzles (4) i.e. slot nozzles, are bent in an angle opposite to an axis direction of the storage drum.
