The arrangement (10) has two switching elements (18a, 18b) electrically switched in series and connected in half-bridge circuits (16a-16c). The switching elements are activated or clocked for processing an input voltage (Udc) to an output voltage by a control unit such that the control unit alternates switch-on phases of the switching elements. The switch-on phases are separated from each other by dead-time phases. The control unit variably adjusts duration of the dead-time phases lying between two successive switch-on phases such that the switching elements are switched-off in the duration. The switching elements are designed as a switching transistor such as insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and a FET i.e. MOSFET. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling switching elements.
