PURPOSE: An in-plane switching mode liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to secure a high speed response property without the limit of the phase lag value of a liquid crystal layer by a first phase difference film. CONSTITUTION: An IPS(In Plane Switching) LCD device(110) includes a first substrate(120), a second substrate(130), a liquid crystal layer(140), a first phase difference film(150), a second phase difference film(160), a first polarizing plate(170), and a second polarizing plate(180). The first and the second polarizing plate have vertical transmission axes. The liquid crystal layer and the first phase difference film have the phase lag of λ/4. The first phase difference film has a phase lag function to linear polarization. |
