<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application program which is executed in conjunction with an AV content by using ACR technology. <P>SOLUTION: A receiving device receives an AV content, extracts a feature amount from the data of the received AV content, and acquires the discrimination result of the AV content discriminated by using the extracted feature amount. According to the acquired discrimination result, the receiving device acquires a command necessary to control the operation of an application program which is executed in conjunction with the AV content, controls the operation of the application program according to the acquired command, and detects switching of the AV content to be viewed. When switching of the AV content is detected, the receiving device terminates the application program being executed in conjunction with the AV content.
