<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always restart an engine in an optimal mode in response to a restarting condition of the engine, when restarting the compression self-ignition engine. <P>SOLUTION: When restarting the engine (YES in Step S21), even if a stopping position of a piston of a stopping time compression stroke cylinder existing in a compression stroke when stopping the engine falls within a reference stopping position range set near the bottom dead center (YES in Step S22), when a driver does not make a starting request (NO in Step S23), the engine is restarted by injecting fuel to the cylinder when a stopping time intake stroke cylinder existing in an intake stroke when stopping the engine meets with a compression stroke (Step S25), and when the driver makes the starting request (YES in Step S23), the engine is restarted by injecting the fuel to the stopping time compression stroke cylinder (Step S24). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
