<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a porous ceramic material that can give a uniform distribution of organic balloons in a spray-dried material, and a porous ceramic material manufactured by the method. <P>SOLUTION: In the method, in a spray drying step S2, a mixture of slurry and thermal expansible resin powder is sprayed and the sprayed material is blown and dried by a wind hot enough to inflate the thermal expansible resin powder in the sprayed material to produce the organic balloons.
