<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus that records a bar code which prevents degradation in reading accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: In the ink jet recording apparatus in which the bar of a bar code is recorded in the form of a plurality of lines of recorded dots, recording is controlled so that recorded dots are thinned out in each of the lines of recorded dots.
