PURPOSE: A composition containing Moutan Radicis Cortex extract is provided to prevent or treat liver diseases without toxicity and side effect. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating liver diseases contains Moutan Radicis Cortex extract. The extract is isolated using low alcohol of C1-C4 or mixture solvent thereof. The low alcohol is methanol, ethanol, or butanol. The liver diseases include hepatitis, hepatotoxicity, fatty liver, liver cirrhosis, alcoholic liver diseases, or liver cancer. The composition additionally contains pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. A food composition for treating liver diseases contains the composition as an active ingredient. |
