<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The drum has a pot-shaped base body (10) made of a light metal. A friction body (28) is fastened at a radial inner surface (18) of the base body. Frictional force acts on the friction body during braking. The friction body is connected with the base body by a friction welding process i.e. rotation friction welding process, in material engagement manner. The radial inner surface pointing towards the friction body, and a radial outer surface (32) of the friction body pointing towards the base body are formed in a frustum shape. Grooves (24) thread-like run in a circumferential direction. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a brake drum. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Brake drum for a motor vehicle i.e. two-wheeler, and a rail vehicle. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The friction body is connected with the base body by the friction welding process in material engagement manner, thus achieving process-safe, reliable, better, rigid and stable connection of the friction body and the base body without detaching of the friction body from the base body, achieving a long service life of the drum, and ensuring simple, process-safe and inexpensive manufacturing of the drum. The rotation friction welding process is easily performed and provides clearance-freedom, thus preventing corrosion of the drum during operation of the drum. The drum has a low weight, and an improved attachment behavior.
