<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide document management using remote position identification and extraction of documents. <P>SOLUTION: A document management system uses remote position identification and extraction of documents contained in a file folder arranged in a file drawer in a collection of file cabinets. Each document has an RFID tag containing a document identifier and content of documents stored in a read-only memory. Each file folder has a circuit containing a unique identifier of the folder. Each file cabinet has a control unit searching a specific file folder in response to reception of a file folder request from a source. When the folder is found, each cabinet has an RF reader searching a specific document in response to reception of a document request from the source.
