MASTER FOR MAGNETIC TRANSFER, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND MAGNETIC TRANSFER METHOD USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficient SNR of magnetic transfer signal even in magnetic transfer of a magnetic signal having a short bit length.

SOLUTION: A master 10 has a fine uneven pattern P on its surface and is used when a magnetic signal expressed in the uneven pattern P is magnetically transferred to a perpendicular magnetic recording medium. The master 10 comprises: a master substrate 11 having a fine uneven pattern Pa on its surface; a soft magnetic layer 12 that is formed along the uneven pattern Pa of the master substrate 11 at least on top surfaces St of convex parts of the uneven pattern Pa; a ground layer 13 that is formed along the uneven pattern Pa of the master substrate 11 at least in regions on the soft magnetic layer 12 corresponding to the top surfaces St of the convex parts; and a perpendicular magnetization film layer 24 that is formed along the uneven pattern Pa of the master substrate 11 at least in regions on the ground later 13 corresponding to the top surfaces St of the convex parts.
