<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire 12 superior in high speed durability and silence. <P>SOLUTION: This tire 12 is assembled on an outer surface of a toroidal core, and is formed by being pressurized and heated in a cavity formed between a mold and the core. The tire 12 includes a belt 22, a band 24 and a pair of reinforcing layers 58. The band 24 includes a cord 54 wound in a helix shape. The cord 54 is formed of organic fibers, and its modulus at two percent is 10,000 N/mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>or more. The belt 22 has an inside layer 48a and an outside layer 48b. The reinforcing layer 58 is constituted of a material of cross-linking a rubber composition including base material rubber and short fibers. A blending quantity of the short fibers in the reinforcing layer 58 is 10-60 pts.mass to 100 pts.mass of the base material rubber.
