Disclosed are a method for a participant to participate in a conference and a conference system. The method includes: sending conference authorization information to a participant; receiving the conference authorization information and contact information sent from the participant; performing authorization according to the received conference authorization information; and after the authorization is successful, calling the participant to participate in the conference according to the contact information. In the solution provided by the embodiments of the present invention, the participant and the conference host do not need fussy IVR operations. Moreover, the participant can also participate in a conference according to the contact information designated thereby.
