<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high luminance discharge lamp having a novel outer bulb protective structure. <P>SOLUTION: In the high luminance discharge lamp sealing an arc tube supported by struts of mount structure, an outer bulb protective structure for preventing damage on an outer bulb when the arc tube is damaged is provided. The outer bulb protective structure consists of an inner tube surrounding the arc tube, and a metal wire wound spirally around the inner tube and the struts. Caulking members are fixed to both ends of the metal wire. The caulking members are welded to the struts at such positions and sizes that are shaded by the supporting plate of the inner tube, when viewed from the center of the arc tube. The same kind of metal is used as the material of the caulking members and at least as the surface material of the struts. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
