<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating straight etiolated welsh onions having a long stem part, which has the cultivation number of welsh onions per unit area that is about not less than twice as many as that of a conventional soil heaping method. <P>SOLUTION: Soil is put into a seedling box A having a size large enough to hold etiolated welsh onion seedlings of one ridge and has an open top and a rectangular parallelepiped shape, the etiolated welsh onions seedlings are fixedly planted in line in the center in the width direction, fertilized and watered, and grown. An operation in which a filling material is fed to the seedling box to a height covering the blanched top parts of the etiolated welsh onions with the growth of etiolated welsh onions is carried out once or more. Then, when the upper surface of a filling material layer comes close to the height of the seedling box, upper board enclosing plates C are added to the box, additionally, an operation in which a filling material is fed to the seedling box to a height covering the blanched top parts of the growing etiolated welsh onions is performed once or more.
