The pump has a housing portion (1) for accommodating a pumping element that is used to pump the fuel at high pressure. The housing portion comprises a bore (4) for ventilating an engine compartment (15) of the pump and a throttle (3), where the housing portion is connected to a return line (2). An edge filter (5) is inserted into the bore for the formation of the throttle. The edge filter comprises a portion forming an annular gap that is attached with an inner wall of the bore. The edge filter possesses another portion with respect to the former portion to form another annular gap.
