The system is supplied with emergency cooling water (51) from a water reservoir (50) e.g. artificial lake, which is refillable from external water supply units (55), where the cooling system is manually operated without using electric current. The system supplies the emergency cooling water over appropriate pipes (10-13), where the emergency water supply takes place by a manual opening of shutoff devices i.e. valves (14). The system enables a multi-stage cooling process. An independent claim is also included for a method for reduction of radiation from a reactor building into the atmosphere.
