<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stable thread chain sewing by preventing a free end of a thread chain remaining on a sewing machine side after being cut from falling to the outside of a suction passage from a suction hole of a thread chain suction pipe immediately after cutting of suction to allow it to be securely sucked into the suction passage and securely blown back. <P>SOLUTION: An over-lock sewing machine comprises a thread chain sewing device which sucks a thread chain Ch formed so as to be continuous with a seam formed in a rear end of a cloth N to a suction hole 26a of a thread chain suction pipe 25 provided on a rear side of a needle fall part 5 of a needle plate 2 to cut it inside the suction hole 26a, and blows and moves a free end of the thread chain Ch remaining on a sewing machine side onto the surface of the needle plate 2 on a front side of the needle fall part 5 by wind pressure, and pinches the arrived thread chain Ch on a front side of the needle fall part 5, and sews the pinched thread chain Ch into a seam to be formed on the next cloth N.
