The rim has an electric motor-generator unit located within the rim for recovering brake energy and/or potential energy when driving a commercial vehicle in mountain slopes. The motor-generator unit is secured to a wheel hub through a bearing, where the wheel hub is rotatably mounted on an axle (2) of the vehicle. A rotor of the motor-generator unit is connected with a rim outer region facing a moving part. A stator of the motor-generator unit is fixed at an axle stub that passes through the hub. The stator is accessible from outside of the vehicle in mounted state.
