PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly and efficiently perform automatic registration of face image data of an authentication target user to a face authentication database when image data obtained by imaging with an imaging device includes face image data of plural users.

SOLUTION: A face authentication device includes: a face image detection unit 12 for detecting face image data of a user imaged by a camera 3; a distance calculation unit 13 for calculating the position of the user in image data obtained by imaging with the camera 3 with respect to the camera 3, and calculating a distance from an operation panel 2 to the user on the basis of the calculation result; and a registration processing unit 14 for registering the face image of the user existing at a minimum distance in association with the ID of the user to a face authentication database 5 when operation is performed on the operation panel 2 and the distance from the operation panel 2 to the user is equal to or shorter than a predetermined distance Dth.
