The method involves using time-of-flight cameras (14) as a measuring device. Limitation information is determined from measuring data of the measuring device. The limitation information is considered for avoiding collision of a moving component i.e. C-arm, of a medical imaging and/or treating device i.e. X-Ray device (1), with a patient (8) and/or an object (13). The limitation information is evaluated relative to a collision probability with the patient and/or the object. A region around the patient and/or the object is defined based on the limitation information. An independent claim is also included for a medical imaging and/or treating device.
