<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of highly efficiently recovering or removing a metal (metal ions) contained in a solution by culturing red algae therein, and a method of producing a lipid or a pigment. <P>SOLUTION: The method of recovering a metal is characterized by culturing red algae belonging to cyanidiales in a solution wherein the concentration of red algae cells is controlled within a range of 10<SP POS="POST">6</SP>to 10<SP POS="POST">10</SP>pieces/ml to cause the red algae to absorb and recover metal ions contained in the solution. In this case, it is preferable to use a solution wherein Cl concentration is controlled below 5 mM and/or acetic acid is added, when culturing red algae therein. The method of recovering a metal is further characterized in that a part or the whole of the metal ions contained in the solution is metal ions eluted from the metal contained in the solution as a solid. Namely, the metal contained in the solution as a solid is eluted as metal ions by way of bio-leaching, and the eluted metal ions are recovered. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
