PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxygen-consuming electrode (OCE), particularly for use in chloralkali electrolysis, in which a defect of an OCE known from a prior art is solved, and silver oxide is used, and which allows a low operating voltage when the OCE is used in the chloralkali electrolysis, and to provide a production process for the OCE.
SOLUTION: The production process for the oxygen-consuming electrode includes the steps of: (a) precipitating silver oxide, by metering a silver salt solution and adding the solution to an initial introduction object of an alkaline solution and then by stirring the resulting suspension liquid over a period of at most 10 min while the temperature of the suspension liquid is kept within a range of 10 to 50°C; (b) taking out the precipitated silver oxide in the step (a) from the suspension liquid; (c) drying the silver oxide at a temperature in the range of 80 to 200°C, optionally under reduced pressure; and (d) further processing the resulting silver oxide together with an electrically conductive support material, a catalyst containing silver particles, and a finely-divided fluorinated polymer to form a flat oxygen-consuming electrode.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
