<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct deterioration in the gradation characteristics or color reproduction characteristics occurring due to short exposure time when compounding a plurality of high sensitivity images. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises image acquisition units 103, 104 acquiring a plurality of high sensitivity images captured based on a first exposure time, and at least one low sensitivity image captured based on a second exposure time longer than the first exposure time, a compounding unit 103 generating a composite image by compounding a plurality of high sensitivity images, a first statistic calculation unit 104 calculating a statistic based on the pixel value of at least partial area of a composite image, a second statistic calculation unit 104 calculating a statistic based on the pixel value of at least partial area of a low sensitivity image corresponding at least to a partial area of a composite image, and a correction unit 104 correcting the pixel value of a composite image so as to bring the statistic calculated by the first statistic calculation unit 104 close to the statistic calculated by the second statistic calculation unit 104. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
