The classification method involves determining the horizontal diagonal of a vehicle (16), where the displacement of the single points of the vehicle and the radar beam (14) of a frequency shift keying-radar (12) or a frequency-modulated continuous-wave-radar reflective stationary objects (18) are detected. The radar echoes are hidden and are produced by the other radar beams (15) reflected to the stationary object. Multiple lanes are assigned in a driving direction of the detected vehicle with the help of frequency shift keying-radar or frequency-modulated continuous-wave-radar. An independent claim is included for a classification device for vehicles.
