The method involves actuating a display area (2) i.e. LCD, by a control device such that graphic objects are displayed for visualization of operational parameters of a motor car (11). Energy reserves are detected for driving the car such that a residue range of the car is computed from the energy reserves. Graphics data are produced from the residual range, where the display area is actuated such that two graphic symbols are displayed for the car and a gas station respectively. Spacing of one of the symbols from the other symbol is selected depending on the residual range. The drive is designed as an electric drive or a hybrid drive. An independent claim is also included for a display device.
