PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress inhibitor for preventing or treating acute lung injury is provided to reduce total number of inflammatory cells, lymphocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophils. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating acute lung injury contains an endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress inhibitor as an active ingredient. The acute lung injury is acute respiratory distress syndrome. The ER stress inhibitor is 4-phenybutyric acid(4-PBA).
