[Also in Division F1] The timer and actuating device as illustrated and in Figs 1 and 2 and 4 to 9 (not shown) controls the discharge valve of a pressurized fluid container 12 by operating on a spray nozzle 22 connected with the valve. The device comprises a housing 36 mounted on the container so as to enclose the nozzle excepting for an opening 40 aligned with the nozzle outlet. A clock mechanism 60 in the housing drives a cam device 56 which through follower means 58 causes tilting of the nozzle to operate the valve. A selector disc 98 is settable against a pointer 148 to determine the duration of operation and is associated with a stop means 114 which is arranged to arrest the clock mechanism. The housing is assembled on the container by an interrupted resilient sleeve 42 of the housing engaging in a moulding 20 of the container. The cam device 56 comprises upper and lower cams 62, 64 on opposite sides of a disc, which are engaged by two spring follower arms 68, 70 connected round, and rotatable on, a post 74. As arm 68 is moved outwardly, arm 70 drops off the cam 64 and engages the nozzle 22 to open the valve. The selector disc 98 is geared to a frictionally mounted pinion 140 on the shaft of a spring motor 84. The teeth 100 of this disc are interrupted over an arc 102-104, Fig 5, corresponding to ON-OFF markings on the disc. Thus from an initial setting the disc is driven to a rest position corresponding to OFF. In this position a cam 112 rotatable with the disc has depressed, through a follower pin 120, a stop assembly 114 against a spring 118 which serves also to rotate the stop assembly. This rotation is permitted when a hold-out cam 130, forming part of the cam device 56, has released a follower arm 124, 126 on the stop assembly 114. On rotation of the stop assembly 114 in its depressed position, a wedge surface 132 thereon engages a balance 134 of the clock mechanism to arrest it. The clockwork is wound by a cap 92. An electric clock motor may replace the spring motor.</p>
