<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct (one step), high-reaction-rate, high yield and highly selective process for production of a 1,3-diol compound from a dioxolane compound having a hydroxymethyl group. <P>SOLUTION: The process for production of the 1,3-diol compound includes contacting the dioxolane compound having the hydroxymethyl group with a catalyst for hydrogenolysis in the presence of a hydrogen source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
