A method for producing a spinel lithium manganese oxide as a positive electrode material for a lithium secondary battery according to the present invention comprises: (a) a first step of mixing a manganese raw material, aluminum and a lithium source; (b) a second step of injecting the mixture into a heating furnace and firstly firing the mixture at a temperature of 600 to 750oC for 5 to 24 hours in an oxygen atmosphere; (c) a third step of mixing a zinc compound and sulfur into said firstly fired compound; and (d) a fourth step of secondly firing the mixture obtained in the third step at a temperature of 650 to 800oC for 5 to 24 hours. Thus, the method produces a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery having a spinel structure of a composition expressed by the chemical formula Li1+aAlbZncMn2-a-b-cO4-mSm (wherein, 0<=a<=0.1, 0<=b<=0.2, 0.01<=c<=0.1, 0<=m<=0.1). The method of the present invention may produce a spinel lithium manganese oxide by solid phase synthesis, and may control lifespan characteristics by adding zinc and capacity characteristics by adding sulfur, thus providing advantages of ensuring both high capacity and superior lifespan characteristics. |
