<p>Water-based intumescent fireproofing formulations are provided that exhibit excellent fireproofing properties while simultaneously significantly reducing and/or eliminating the potential for VOC release and exhibiting excellent hangability properties. The intumescent fireproofing formulation includes a coalescent that significantly reduces and/or eliminates the potential for VOC release and fiber constituents, e.g., fibers of greater than 0.2 mm in length. Exemplary coalescents have a boiling point of at least 180°C and include bis(2- ethylhexanoate) triethyleneglycol and 2,2,4-trimethyl-l,3-pentanediolmono(2- methylproponate). Intumescent fireproofing formulations are also provided that include clay to further improve performance.</p> |
