摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery improved in cycle life, an active material used for the nonaqueous electrolyte battery, a method for producing the active material, and a battery pack. <P>SOLUTION: According to an embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an active material which includes a titanate compound, has a peak in a region of from 1580 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>to 1610 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>in an infrared diffuse reflectance spectrum after pyridine is adsorbed and detached, and satisfies the following expression (I): S<SB POS="POST">1</SB>/S<SB POS="POST">2</SB>&ge;2.4. In the expression, S<SB POS="POST">1</SB>represents an area of a peak present in a region of from 1430 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>to 1460 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>in the infrared diffuse reflectance spectrum, and S<SB POS="POST">2</SB>represents an area of a peak present in a region of from 1520 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>to 1560 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>in the infrared diffuse reflectance spectrum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
