PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbazole compound which can be used as a transport layer, host material or a light-emitting material of a light-emitting element and makes it possible to obtain the light-emitting element having good characteristics, particularly when used in the light-emitting element emitting blue phosphorescence.

SOLUTION: In the carbazole compound, the 9-position of one carbazole, the 9-position of the other carbazole and 1-position of a benzimidazole skeleton are bonded to the 1-position, the 3-position and the 5-position of benzene.
