<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a liquid crystal polyester, which can proceed the reaction at low temperature and in a short time, in the melt polycondensation using terephthalic acids and 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acids. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a liquid crystal polyester includes a melt polycondensation step of: adding ≥0.001 pt.mass and ≤1 pt.mass of a heteroaromatic compound represented by formula (I) to 100 pts.mass of a monomer mixture containing at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of terephthalic acid, terephthalic acid derivatives, 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid derivatives; and then melt-polycondensating the mixture at ≥240°C and ≤300°C, thereby obtaining a polymer. In the formula, X<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and X<SP POS="POST">2</SP>are a lower alkyl group; and a hydrogen atom(s) on the heteroaromatic ring may be substituted with a halogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
