The invention relates to a method and a device for measuring distances over wide distance ranges. Received electric analog signals are successively generated from received optical pulses that are detected after transmitted pulses are reflected on a target (10), said received electric analog signals being converted into received digital signals from which the distance (11) to the target (10) can be derived.
