Provided are a base station and a communication control method with which it is possible to more definitively and quickly reestablish uplink synchronization when a necessity for uplink synchronization establishment is detected. A base station (100) is provided with: a UL synchronization loss detection unit (105) for detecting whether or not synchronization establishment of an uplink set to a mobile terminal (200A) is necessary or not; and a synchronization request transmission unit (107) for transmitting SyncRequest for requesting uplink synchronization establishment to the mobile terminal when the UL synchronization loss detection unit (105) determines that uplink synchronization establishment is necessary. Even after transmission of the SyncRequest, the synchronization request transmission unit (107) transmits a new SyncRequest to the mobile terminal (200A) when a state where the UL synchronization loss detection unit (105) determines that uplink synchronization establishment is necessary continues.
