A rechargeable lithium battery according to embodiments of the present invention includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode includes a first layered lithium compound having an open circuit potential (based on lithium) of 3V or greater, and a second layered lithium compound having an open circuit potential of less than 3V. The second layered lithium compound is included in an amount of from about 0.99 to about 30 wt% based on a total amount of the first layered lithium compound and the second layered lithium compound. |
