<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting device usable for a narrow staircase. <P>SOLUTION: A supporting assembly includes a staircase with treads having tread nosings, and a supporting device with a rail mounted at one side of the staircase. The supporting device includes: a carriage movable along the rail; a carriage drive part for moving the carriage along the rail between the upper part of the staircase and the lower part of the staircase; a support bracket mounted on the carriage to support a person walking on the staircase; and a control system for controlling the supporting device. The tread line connects the tread nosings of the staircase, the rail and the carriage are located near the tread line, and a substantially vertical bar extends above the carriage and couples the support bracket to the carriage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
