Method for operating an electric device

The method involves generating an input voltage by a power supply (2) of an electric appliance (1), and setting hardware components (3-5) in an initial state by reset circuits (12-14) with respect to the power supply. The hardware components are applied with power supply voltages in a time delayed manner after temporary failure of the input voltage by a monitoring unit (7). Supply inputs of the respective hardware components are connected with resistors (21-23) over controllable switches (18-20) in case of failure of the input voltage. An independent claim is also included for an electric appliance.
