[Also in Division F2] A slideway bearing comprises relatively slidable male and female members 10, 11 bearing pads 15 mounted on opposite sides of one member with pockets adjacent the other member, and means supplying lubricant from a constant pressure source via a restrictor to the pockets, the pads being tiltable about axes parallel to the direction of movement and pads on one side of the one member being preloaded. In the Figure the pads 15 are supported on female member 11 by ribs and are retained by screws. In Fig. 4 (not shown) member 11 has a portion 11A secured to the main part by a bolt extending through a spring washer, thus preloading the pads mounted on portion 11A. In Figs. 5 and 8 (not shown) a leaf spring 19 mounted on member 11 supports and preloads pads 15. In Fig. 6 (not shown) oil is supplied between a strip 21 and member 11 thus preloading pads 15 supported on the strip. The bearing surfaces of the pads may be faced with plastics. |
