<p>PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to prevent damage to a protection device and to prevent separation of a protection device coupling element due to external impact. CONSTITUTION: A secondary battery(100) comprises a case(11); an electrode assembly which is accommodated in the case; a bare cell which includes a cap plate with a fixed protrusion(15) and an electrode terminal(13); a protection circuit(30) which is coupled to the bare cell; a protection circuit module which is electrically connected to the bare cell; and a coupling element(50) which is located between the bare cell and the protection circuit.
